Word of the Week

Emulate

1 a : to strive to equal or excel: imitate
2 : to equal or approach equality with

Imitate.

Being a parent is, yes, extremely rewarding. One of the best things that's ever happened to me. It's also really hard work. There are sleepless nights. There are scraped knees. There are illnesses. There are behavior issues. Which brings me to something that has been on my mind for a couple of days. If a child were to hit your child how would you expect, or teach, your child to respond? Would you want for your child to hit back, in retaliation? Would you expect your child to take this form as means of defense for him/herself?

Being a Christian is extremely rewarding, but can also be hard work. Satan is always right behind us, waiting to make his attack. As Christians, we should strive to emulate Christ, to the best of our ability, so that we can be a better witness to an unbelieving world.

Furthermore, as Christian parents, we should teach our children to also emulate Christ to the best of their ability.

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing (1 Peter 3:9).

We are our children's greatest influences. Help to teach your children to make good choices. Refraining from ill words or physical violence does not make a person weak. It makes them stronger. >:0)

Relishing in His goodness...
