Conversation with an Eight Year Old

Gabriel: I think being a Mommy is probably a lot harder than being a dad.

Me: Why do you think that?

Gabriel: Because Mommy's have to take care of all of the kids. They have to fold laundry and stuff.

Me:(laughing) Daddy's do a lot, too.

Gabriel: They go to work, and take breaks and get to talk to their friends at work.

Me: They take out the trash when they come home, and help Mommy's cook sometimes.

Gabriel: Yeah, but they grow too much hair.

Me: (laughing, laughing, laughing) Where did that come from, son?

Gabriel: Some dads have hair on their chest! I don't want that when I get old.

He, then, leaves the room and enters Lindsey's room and replays the entire conversation with her, not understanding why I found that conversation so funny. This produces a laugh just as big as my own, and they both come up with reasons why it must be harder to be a mom than a dad. It's much more enjoyable hearing children come up with reasons why's it's harder being a mom, than debating the topic with your spouse. ha,ha. I hope my son remembers this conversation when he becomes a father himself.
