Pilgrims

The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving. ~H.U. Westermayer

How are you celebrating Thanksgiving this year? My two sisters and our families will be joining my mom and step dad at their home this year, along with a rather large spread of food. More than likely, family recipes and smells that take me back to my childhood. While I am thankful for so many things throughout the year, I love the fact that we have this particular holiday to reflect and relish in our blessings. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season? I love nothing more than blessings being poured out upon people! This year, I am thankful for my husbands employment as well as the employment of the thousands of people who have been hired on at the new Kia plant. I am thankful for Christian fellowship. Having Christian friends constantly surrounding me is always a huge blessing. I am thankful for good health. My own as well as my family's'. I'm thankful for the Lord's will, education, trees, laughter, color, funny messages on my answering machine, warm fuzzy slippers, letters sent via snail mail, music, chocolate, hugs and kisses. My list is extensive. God never stops pouring out the blessings, does He? Even in our darkest hour. His love amazes me. Praying that you're relishing in your abundant blessings this Thanksgiving... and everyday.

Relishing in His goodness...

Well, this year it will be a little different, as my oldest son will be with my Daughter-in-love's family for the first time, as she lost her very sweet Nana this year. I think, however it is now time for him to spend it with his "new" family. So, as we live very far from any family we will spend it the 3 of us, DH, me and our younger son, up yonder in VT with the whole usual spread of food, more than we could possibly eat :)

I am Thankful that this year is almost over as it was a bit of a tough one, I had a fall, 2 surgeries and months of recovery and rehab, which are now behind me, but took up the entire year :) I am also Thankful for grace and perseverance as well as a family that loves each other and at the end of the day is there no matter what. I am also Thankful that with every sunrise we are reminded that God is a believer in starting over and new beginnings.

Sorry to be so long winded, and thanks for such a great post and once again making me think :)

Hugs sweetie

I love Thanksgiving and I, like you, have SO MUCH for which to be thankful.

We have more than one meal to attend which is such a blessing. To think...many don't have a meal with family...so sad.

Karyn-Your Thanksgiving plans sound lovely. We have very good friends who are from Vermont, but now live in Georgia. The pictures she has shared with me are beautiful. I hope to someday visit Vermont...preferably in the summer. I don't think I can handle the snow. I love the things that you are thankful for this year. New beginnings are, indeed, quite a blessing. :0) Never apologize for being "long winded". I enjoy it all, I assure you!

Parsely-So true. Our family was not able to celebrate last year, and I've never experienced a more depressing holiday. My heart goes out to those who have no food to put in their belly's, family to love on, or maybe even knowledge of the date on the calendar. Praying for those people, and for people who can help to make a difference this year. :0)

Kim-You're such a great pal. Thank you, sweet friend. I am thankful for you as well.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. xoxo
