To My Son on His Twenty-First Birthday

    My dearest Gabriel,

"Don't be in a hurry to grow up, son. Enjoy being young for as long as possible." It's what I've always told you. I've thought about that ten gazillion times, these past eleven plus months, as I've watched you attempt to become some semblance of being the "man of the house" to take the load off of your mama, even if for just a little bit. And you've made your mama so proud. Oh, my sweet boy....so, so proud. You are good to me and to your siblings and I couldn't be more appreciative.

But...I still very much want you to know that I stand behind my word.

Don't be in a hurry to grow up. I want you to go on adventures, try new things, and make memories that last you a lifetime! Be with friends, play games, eat crazy food, thrift your heart out, collect your Funk-O Pops, and record your music!

Enjoy every second of being twenty-one, my darling boy.

I know I tell you every year, but it has been such an honor and a privilege being chosen to be your mother. You have brought me joy, light, laughter. SO MUCH LAUGHTER! I love seeing how God works through you to serve Him. You are the epitome of compassion and empathy. You are a complete blessing to this world!

Your mama loves you something fierce, son kabobs! To infinity and beyond...

Relishing in His goodness...
Christy
